Records show Sharpton owes overdue taxes, other penalties
Updated May 09, 09:23 PM
From Associated Press/AP Online
NEW YORK - Big corporations give him money.
The Rev. Al Sharpton has emerged over the past decade as perhaps the nation's most prominent civil rights leader, a status that was demonstrated again this week when he led protests against police brutality that briefly shut down six of Manhattan's major bridges and tunnels.
Now the U.S. attorney is investigating his nonprofit group, a probe that an undeterred Sharpton brushes off as the kind of annoyance that civil rights figures have come to expect from the government.

Jazz down 2-0 to Lakers as series comes to Utah
Updated May 09, 02:32 PM
From Associated Press/AP Online
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Jazz are hoping home court really is an advantage.
The Los Angeles Lakers lead the Jazz 2-0 in the Western Conference semifinals and are coming to Utah with thoughts of a second straight sweep in the playoffs.
The Jazz had hoped to come out of Los Angeles with a split, but were back home Thursday trying to figure out new ways to slow down league MVP Kobe Bryant and the Lakers while reviving their own sporadic offense.
